Peer Advocacy & Leadership Academy
BECOME A LEADER IN YOUR COMMUNITY
The Puget Sound Peer Advocacy & Leadership Academy (PALA) is an innovative program designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become peer advocates and community leaders. Whether you have lived experience with housing instability, recovery, or navigating social services, PALA provides a structured path to leadership where your voice and experiences can drive real change.
What is PALA?
PALA is a peer-led leadership development program that empowers individuals to use their lived experiences to advocate for systemic change. Participants will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world opportunities to engage in community advocacy efforts.
This first cohort is specifically for individuals who live and/or work in Tukwila or SeaTac, Washington. While this initial program is focused on these communities, we are actively planning to launch additional cohorts in other areas in the future.
This program is ideal for individuals who are passionate about:
-
Peer Support & Advocacy – Using their experiences to help others navigate resources.
-
Community Leadership – Engaging in grassroots organizing and public speaking.
-
Policy Change & Social Justice – Learning how to advocate for equitable policies.
-
Personal & Professional Growth – Building skills that can lead to employment in social services, advocacy, or leadership roles.
